Black History Month
We learned two pretty big words this month: Slavery and Segregation. We didn't take a deep dive into the reality of those words, but we did learn about a few historical figures and their contributions - Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Wrinkled Hearts: A Lesson on Unkind Words
This week we're learning about the effects of unkind words. To start we draw, color/design, and cut out a heart. Then we listen to the Chrysanthemum read-along. Each time someone says something unkind to Chrysanthemum, we wrinkle our hearts a bit. Each time someone says something nice to Chrysanthemum, we smooth out the wrinkles. After the story we talk about how unkind words have a lasting effect and why it is important to always choose kind words.
